We host fellowship events consistent with our mission to bring senior members of the administration, great scholars, great scientists, and great engineers in Columbia’s faculties together with our members and the public at our fellowship events to showcase new educational programs and research at Columbia. On February 19 we hosted University Professor Ruth DeFries of the department of Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology (E3B) and Chair of Faculty at the Earth Institute in the Alumni Center. She spoke on the topic, “Steps Towards Sustainable Development: Education, Research, and Impact”. We learned among many things that the undergraduate major in Sustainable Development has grown over its 10 year existence to be the major with the largest number of students in Columbia College. Our objective for this event also included video-recording the event and making it available to our members and public online. View the event online by clicking this link:
